Reacting to comments from Finance Minister Arun Jaitley that India in 2017 is different from India in 1962, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Monday that “China is also different and will take all necessary steps to safeguard its sovereignty Territorial, “PTI said. China said the border between the two nations in the Sikkim area is delimited by the Sino-British Treaty of 1890.
“I would like the party to respect India immediately the 1890 Treaty and withdraw its troops from the border that have passed through Chinese territory to the Indian side of the border,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang. Geng also accused India of using Bhutan as “cover” for illegal entry of its troops into Doklam, which China says falls on its territory.
“To cover the illegal entry of troops from the border with India to distort the fact and even at the expense of the independence and sovereignty of Bhutan, who try to confuse the good of evil is useless.” Geng said that if China had “no objection” to normal bilateral relations between India and Bhutan, it opposed Indian troops “infringing” on Chinese territory using Bhutan as an “excuse.”
“The Bhutanese side has not previously known that Indian troops entered the Doklam region, which does not conform to what is claimed by the Indian side,” he said. The spokesman, when asked if there were discussions between India and China to resolve the Sikkim deadlock, said: “The line of diplomatic communication between the two parties is open and fluid.”
On Thursday, Chinese Defense spokesman Wu Qian Colonel said that India must learn from history and stop “screaming” at war, referring to the 1962 Sino-Indian war that ended with a Chinese victory.
India and China have deployed some 3,000 soldiers each from the Sikkim-Bhutan-Tibet tri-crossing. India also said it would not allow China to build a walkable path to tri-crossing through the territory of the bhutanien Doklam tray. Bhutan has also asked Beijing to stop working immediately and issued an approach to China in the construction of the road to the military camp in Zomplri on the Doklam tray.
China also said Sunday that India had violated international law by “crossing” the border and demanded that India withdraw its troops immediately. Kailash Mansarovar Yatra was suspended due to tensions Friday at the border of Sikkim.
